We figured we were in for a long, stormy weekend when Friday morning started with the tornado sirens blasting at 6:00am. After that though, I skies cleared and we had a wonderful weekend with 70 degree weather. We started Saturday with some much needed yard work. After a few hours, we headed to the first Bentonville Farmer's Market of the year. It was a lot of fun! Since we've moved here, we've heard many ravings about the Big Rub food truck. This weekend seemed like a good time to try it out. We both love barbecue, so it seemed wonderful. After a little bit of fun, we headed back to the house for more yard work. We planted flowers, fixed gutters, and did general clean-up. Our beautiful flowers! We planted lilacs and hydrangeas in the back, followed by lilies, marigolds, petunias, and sweet potato vines (Jake calls them Green Monster). It was a lot more work than we expected! We had to till the area (which was done by hand because we don't have a rototiller.) But it was fun still! The beautiful day helped. We aren't completely finished yet, but we are mostly there! We brought Rio to the front yard so he could have a change of scenery. After a lot of hard work, we decided to take a break in the shade with him. As I was laying on the grass, Rio decided I was the perfect chair. He climbed on my back like it was a throne! It was quite funny. We weren't able to get a picture of him on top before he fell off. But he still decided he wanted to sit there. We finished the weekend a beautiful walk at Crystal Bridges/Compton Gardens. We should have counted how many times people said, "That dog looks like a fox!" Or asked us if they could pet him. Lucky for us, we have a great dog, who is very well-behaved. The world is a beautiful place. And I live in a wonderful place! Spring has always been my favorite! Needless to say, we had a wonderful weekend in Arkansas!

Unfortunately, we didn't actually go to Rio de Janeiro, which Jake would have loved. But, we did the next best thing! we got a puppy! He's about 5 months old and is a Shiba Inu. We did a lot of research about dog breeds before deciding a Shiba is the dog for us. They are very intelligent, very independent, and very friendly towards people. They aren't supposed to get too big, no more than 30lbs. He will be an outside dog, not allowed in the house. He seems to like it out there, so we won't have any problems. :) Here are the facts about our little Rio.
We've taken a few walks with him and he just loves to explore. He stops and smells just about every flower, which I find pretty funny. We thought is was going to be a struggle getting him to walk on a leash because we've heard that Shibas are pretty stubborn. But we were wrong, he did great! We'll see how things go. :) |
