What a joy this little girl is! We just love her. She is changing so much. We've started giving her baby food, and it has been a roller coaster. She is growing so much, but she's been having a hard time processing all the new foods. (Talk about serious gas!! TMI, I know.) She loves loves sweet potatoes. Everything else, she tolerates. But if it has sweet potatoes, she'll eat it and beg for more!
She rolls all over the place. She wants to badly to crawl, but she can't quite figure out how to lift up her arms. She's slowly getting it though. Mckee is so active. She's wiggly and always wants to be exploring. Thankfully though, she also has her very snuggly moments. She loves mom and dad, too. She's started reach for me and Jake. It's great. :) She is so full of smiles and giggles! Oh the baby giggles. They could possibly be the happiest noise in the world.

Aren't those laughs just the best? I think I watched that video 100 times. So much fun!
Mckynlee is also becoming really vocal! She has so much to say and I love it!
I'd say it was a pretty good first experience. The doctor mentioned we should maybe give her a meat in the beginning. I decided to try chicken the other day. She did NOT like it. She wouldn't even swallow and she was gagging for about 5 minutes. So that was a bust!
Funny story: I was at mutual one night and some beehives were in the back seat with Mckee. They happened to be eating cookies with melted (melting) Rolos on top. One thing lead to another, and I noticed some uncontrollable laughing coming from the backseat. They immediately started apologizing, saying they hoped it wouldn't stain. After some prodding of what had happened, I was told they were playing with Mckee and one of them dropped the cookie on Mckee. I wasn't worried about the clothing or carseat--things stain. That's just life with kids. I told them to not worry about the clothes, but to get it off her hands so she didn't eat any of it. I was worried about her getting too much and having stomach pain. They assured me they would clean it up.
After arriving at our destination, the beehives ran off to the activity and I went to the carseat to get Mckynlee out. When I got to her, she had wide eyes and was sucking ferociously on two fingers. The chocolate wasn't on her clothes, but it was all over her hands and face. I wish I had taken a picture, but I was caught in the moment of worrying. Her face said, "Mom, you've been holding out on me! This is the best thing I've ever tasted!" It was pretty funny.

She just loves life. She is always so happy. We are really blessed!
Mckynlee has a new "trick". When we ask her to give kisses, she leans over and pretty much licks my face. It's slobbery and wet, but also endearing and wonderful. I wouldn't change any part of it.
Mckynlee is such a joy. She is so smiley and happy all the time. She also loves playing on the floor. She rolls all over the place and is trying so hard to crawl. She also sits in the shopping cart all by herself and she is so proud of that. She gets the biggest smile on her face when she realizes she's sitting alone. We also love going in the stroller for walks and runs. Such a great little one!
Olympics in Rio!
Jake served his mission in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, so he was beyond excited for the Olympics this year. (Which happen to be in Rio de Janeiro.) We decided to try our hand at Brazilian cuisine for a Brazil party for the opening ceremonies!
Jake was feeling a little nostalgic, so I tried to make some Brazilian finger foods. The first thing he asked for was Pastels. (Past-el). They are like cheese empanadas. We made some with mozzarella and some with parmesan. The second was Pao de Queijo. (Pow - Gee - kay - jo). They are little cheese balls, my personal favorite. If you've ever been to Tochanos, they are very similar to what they serve there. Third was Brigadeiro. (brig - a - dare - oh). These are little fudge balls covered in sprinkles. The last thing we made was churros. (Shoe - oh). Delicious! They weren't as good as they were in Brazil (so said Jake), but they were pretty good considering I've never been to Brazil.
We also ordered Brazilian soda, called Guaranara (gwad - en - ah). It wasn't as carbonated as it was in Brazil, so that a little disappointing to Jake. He enjoyed it nonetheless though! We also had Orange Fanta, which is another Brazilian must.
Mckynlee was trying her very best to pay attention to the opening ceremonies, but her tired little self couldn't make it. We She was sitting with Jake and we almost didn't notice she was falling asleep. Such a cutie.
This is new. For the longest time, she detested the pacifier. And a bottle for that matter. Or anything plastic. Then one day, she decided she liked the pacifier. She's still very selective on when she'll take it, but she'll take it. And we're progressing with the bottle. Again, she's picky. But at least she'll take it occasionally.
Mckynlee loves the pool! She really enjoys being in the water. She loves splashing around and playing. She's just a hoot!
We love the pool! It was very hard to get her to look at the camera! She was so interested in everything around her. We like to spend our Saturday afternoons at the water park. So fun! And don't worry, she's not crying in the picture above. It's just a water drop.
This little chicka is trying so hard to crawl. She just can't quite figure out the timing of it all.
We went out to a restaurant with some friends and Mckee sat in a high chair for the first time. She was going crazy! She just wanted to grab everything, she felt like such a big kid I'm sure! It was fun.
So here's a confession: I love matching outfits. I love dressing up Mckynlee, it's one of the best perks of having a baby girl.

We are just having so much fun with life. Mckynlee is learning so much every day and she's just growing up so quick. We've been watching the olympics, and I think Mckynlee has started training for the 2036 Olympics. At this rate, she'll be good!
She's getting faster every day! Such a fun girl. Who needs toys when you can just run laps? She is so much like her mommy, it's scary sometimes.
