Well, here she is folks. She's 7 months old. I am continually amazed at how quickly time is passing. Mckynlee is so fun. I always say that, but each day, I feel so blessed to be with this little girl. She is growing and learning so much. She crawls all over the place. Seriously, the girl can't sit still. She puts just about everything in her mouth and wants to be doing everything I'm doing. I"ll work around the house and Mckee will just follow me around. Laundry, dishes, scrubbing the bathroom, you name it, she'll be there.
She also has started pulling herself up on things. Especially Jake when he's laying on the floor. She has recently gained an attachment to me. I won't complain...most of the time. :) She giggles and smiles all the time. She loves eating, but recently hasn't enjoyed baby food. If it comes off mom's plate, she'll eat it. Such a funny girl. She also pulls crawls on all fours instead of doing an army crawl and she pulls herself up on everything. And I mean everything.
She loves the water! We've been in swimming lessons and she just loves them. She'll playing in the pool and bath for as long as I'll let her. She has started teething (or so I think). She's been a little more fussy and a little less willing to nap. But that's just life!

A Trip to Texas
For Father's day, we bought tickets to a Rangers game. So, we headed to Texas for the weekend! We had such a good time with Jake's dad. We were able to spend most of the day with family and the evening at the ballpark.
It was such a beautiful day, so we took advantage of Grandma and Grandpa's pool.

We've been in swimming lesson and Mckynlee is doing really well! She gets to excited when she gets in the water. When Jake and I are about a yard away from each other, we can have Mckynlee "swim" to us. She seems just fine going under the water. It's awesome.
Jake doesn't like to be in videos, so as soon as he sees my video recording, he stops what he's doing. Silly dad.
The game was a late one, so Mckynlee was realllly tired. Usually, she wouldn't have a problem sleeping in the baby carrier. But...we were in Texas, which means it was really really hot. (By my standards, I'm a wuss.) She had a harder time because as she would fall asleep, she would put her head on me. It would be so sticky and hot she would immediately wake up.
Talk Like A Pirate Day
Krispy Kreme had a "talk like a pirate day"! For anyone who dressed up like a pirate for the day, they received a dozen free doughnuts. For FREE. I'm all for free doughnuts. So Mckynlee and I, along with some friends, dressed up like pirates for a few hours! Thank goodness for $5 pirates kits at Walmart!
Hiking at Tanyard Creek
One hot summer-fall day, we decided to go to the splash pad. Unfortunately, the water was already shut off. So that plan was ruined. But that didn't stop us from making the most of our afternoon! We headed to a local hike (nature walk) to play in a river. The kids just loved it! I was worried it would be cold, but it was a great temperature and Mckynlee did awesome. She just wanted to walk all around the creek.
A Visit From Grandma and Grandpa
Over conference weekend, we were so happy to have Ron and Lisa come visit us. They arrived late Friday night and stayed until Sunday. On Saturday morning, we explored the Farmer's market at the Square. It was a beautiful day!
We went to the Kansas City Barbecue cook-off! We love southern BBQ, so it was a great way to spend our afternoon.
Farmland Adventure
Not too far from where we live, there is a place called Farmland Adventures. While Mckynlee might be a little too small to really appreciate all they had to offer, we still had so much fun. They had a pumpkin patch, hayride, corn maze, petting zoo, etc. It was so hard to get Mckee to look for a picture. She was so distracted by all around her. And she really wanted to eat the dirt and straw. Yum!
In a few pictures, she has her arms raised above her head. I call these her "rocket arms". She's been in swimming lessons and these are her diving arms. Ever since we started swimming lessons, she's been doing them all the time. So funny. I just have to laugh at her little arms. They almost don't get all the way above her head. Soo cute!

On the hayride, they gave us tortillas to feed to the cows. Mckynlee was so excited when the cows started running towards us. When they arrived, I held the tortilla out and one came to eat it. It was pretty close to Mck's face and that was a little bit overwhelming for her. Once the cow stuck it's tongue out, she was ready to be done. A fun experience though!
I know, I'm ridiculous. Mckynlee is 7 months old and I put her on a pony. In my defense, the pony rides were included in the price, so why not?? I should have taken the pacifier out, but she seemed to enjoy it. I think she was more curious as to what was going on. I had a good laugh though!
Swimming Lessons
While waiting for swimming lessons, I was letting Mck crawl around and explore. I don't think she liked the feel of the bumpy floor on her knees. So she started putting her but up in the air. It looked like she was doing push-ups or burpies or yoga. We had a good laugh!
A Trip to Kansas City
Jake and I, especially me, had been feeling like we needed to get away for a few days. We hadn't been out much just the three of us, so we made a special and very short trip to Kansas City. We drove up Friday night and headed home Saturday afternoon. It was much needed and we had a lot of fun, even if it wasn't very long.
It was so fun to get away. I'm glad we made the trip! On our way home, we made a stop at Lowes. I was excited to put Mck into one of those race car carts. Jake, on the other hand, thought I was a little bit silly. Basically, we put her in the cart, took a picture, and took her out. It's a start.
Instead of riding around in the cart, we walked around Lowes like this: hold one of my fingers and one of Jake's. She's growing up so fast.
The Everyday Adventures of Mckynlee
We love watching the BYU football games! We'll always love the Cougars, even if they don't win. Mckynlee had so much fun playing with Henry during the game. He's 2, but they still played great together. We're so blessed to have great friends!
Mckynlee thinks it is so funny when I flip my hair. It gets her. Every. Time.
This baby is so ready to run. She loves to walk anywhere she can.
I gave Mckynlee a lemon, expecting her to make a sour face. Mean, maybe. But she didn't do what I expected. She sucked the lemon dry. Well, not completely. She sucked on it until I took it away. She didn't even seem to mind it at all. She acted like she LIKED it. Who is this child?
Mckynlee loves to get into whatever I'm doing. If I'm folding laundry, she's in the basket and crawling on the clothes. If I'm crocheting, she wants the yarn and the hooks. If I'm doing the dishes, she's right at my feet wanting to help. I don't mind though. Eventually, she won't be so excited to help out.
Mckynlee loves her dad.
Mckynlee's new trick is waving! She waves all the time, unless I ask her to.
It went from being 90 degrees to 60 degrees overnight. We woke up one morning and we were both freezing! Hence, the sweater, hat, and socks. Mckynlee wore socks when she was first born, but she hasn't needed them over the summer because it would be too hot. This was the first time I'd put them on her in a long time. I wish I had started filming sooner, but I was laughing too hard. She started spinning in circles trying to catch her feet. In the video, she gets distracted by something on the floor, then starts following her feet again. Soo funny. Such a goofy little baby.
We love going to the park. Mckynlee loves the swing. We also love just sitting on the grass and enjoying the sunshine.
I've recently discovered that Mckynlee loves Rachel Platten. I had Pandora on as I was cleaning and Mckynlee was pulling herself up on anything she could grab onto. "Stand By You" by Rachel Platten came on and this girl started to bust a move! Again, I was laughing so hard I didn't get my camera out fast enough. I just caught the end of it.
Funny story with this picture. (Below). Mck was in her seat (which spins around the toys) and she was just super upset. She didn't want to be in the seat. I pulled her out and put her on the floor to play with her other toys. As soon as she hit the floor, she crawled over to her exersaucer (the toy I just took her out of), pulled herself up and started playing with the toys. She wants to grow up so badly.
She's started to walk with the walker toy, but most of the time she's too distracted playing to focus on walking. She'd good at multi-tasking though.
Like I said earlier, she will pull herself up on everything. Sometimes she forgets that she can't walk yet. She'll pull herself up, turn around, and try to walk. Most of the time, I can catch her in time. The video below, I wasn't so quick. I cringe a little every time I watch it. But no worries, she's not hurt.
What I've concluded from this last blog post is I take WAY too many pictures to only post on the blog once a month. I really need to get better at updating this so it isn't a Harry Potter novel every time I write. We'll see how that goes. Time goes too fast. Next thing you know, she'll be walking!
